London, as
always, promises some quirky events, one of these is the Tweed Run. Established
in 2009 it’s a yearly event that takes place in the streets of London (this
year on the 17th of May).
It’s a bike race with a vintage dress code
and some very retro velocipedes. Cordings is one of the official
sponsor for this event and so I had to dress the windows in this theme, hence
the Victorian Penny Farthing bicycle hired for the occasion.
At the event
you can win several prizes the likes of ‘Best vintage Bike’, ‘Best decorated
bike’ and ‘Best Moustache’. The suggested etiquette to take part of the event is something like these:
Woolen plus
fours, Harris tweed jackets, fair isle jumpers, alpaca coats, merino wool team
jerseys; cycling skirts and perhaps a sporty cycling cape for the ladies,
cravats or ties for gentlemen, and a sneaky hip flask of sustenance for
afterwards.
