Saloni Milano 2014

It is always inspiring to go and see the Saloni even if the ‘Milanesi’ are telling you that it isn’t as good as it used to be. They say that since the designers have to pay 1000 euro for a flag to take part in the event most of them are now foreign and a lot of the Italian firms have pulled out all together. I still believe that there are plenty to see.

This is my second visit after 8 years and so my first time to visit Lambrate. Ventura Lambrate is a district similar to Hackney in London, full of old warehouses, good vibes and excellent food. I thoroughly enjoyed chatting to the young designers, there was a lot of great music, incredible installations and unusual food items.
Highlights from my pictures include ‘Fetishism exhibition’ by Lidewij Edelkoort and Philip Fimmano, a snap from the beautiful Korean exhibition at Triennale (on the same shot); suspended ‘digital candles’ from laboratorio Ingo Maurer at Spazio Krizia, an installation of 80000 pieces of Swiss watches by architecture practice DGT called ‘citizen’ and, on the same shot, an illuminated leafy chair by Toronto based designers at the museo Bagatti Valsecchi; a piece of furniture created from a sheep by Fornasetti and various lamps and materials from the Lambrate group.
